2025 Festival Event

Tama Matheson

 on ‘Nancy Wake’

Writer/director Tama Matheson and author Dr Kate Vigurs discuss Nancy Wake, one of the Allies’ most formidable spies during World War II.  Nicknamed ‘the white mouse’ for her ability to evade capture; Nancy was brave, rebellious and on the Gestapo’s most wanted list.  Dr Kate Vigurs is the author of Mission Europe – a fascinating account of the women who – like Nancy Wake – were recruited by the Special Operations Executive to ‘set Europe ablaze.’ Marking the 80th Anniversary of VE Day this year, Tama and Kate honour the women who resisted and disrupted the occupation of Europe.

Tama Matheson is presenting a special performance of his production ‘The White Mouse’ based on the story of Nancy Wake at St Michael’s and All Angels Church, Barnes on 2 October.

Dr Kate Vigurs
Dr Kate Vigurs is an historian, author and researcher, working in Political & International Studies at the University of Warwick.
